For me, in order to be productive with classwork, I have to be feeling mentally and physically healthy. What do you enjoy most about your field?
What are your future plans? The plan is to find a job as a WHNP serving women all across the lifespan in obstetrics, gynecology, and primary care. My hope is also to provide specialty care for sexual wellness. My dream is to someday start a summer camp for young people where, in addition to fun wilderness activities, they also receive evidence-based sexuality education. I think the most enriching part of the certificate program are the discussions between students and the professor in every course.
There are students from many different disciplines and backgrounds that provide such high-level and thought-provoking discussion that pushes learning to a whole new level. It is helpful for a lot of students who may have never given this topic much thought as it opens their eyes to the world around them and the people they go to school with. To Discover Who You Are For college students, it is perfectly normal to not know who you are completely.
A lot of people struggle with their sexuality and figuring out what exactly they want in another person and this course will really help those people. It will give them a safe space to talk about what they are thinking and feeling and to explore the possibilities there are in terms of sexuality. It is such a large topic that encompasses so much; from emotions to physical things to culture, there is just so much knowledge to gain and it will really help you figure out exactly who you are. To Challenge Yourself This course is not just for people struggling with their sexuality.
This course was designed to simply teach students about the way people experience and express themselves sexually. This involves everything from emotional feelings to spiritual feelings to biological feelings and a lot of people don't realize this. They don't see human sexuality as a bigger picture and they ignore everything it encompasses.
This course will challenge you to see things differently and to really change your perspective and the way you think. You may not walk out a completely different person but you will be somewhat altered. To Express Your Thoughts UC is a huge school filled with all kinds of people- as stated multiple times earlier, you don't have to be someone struggling with this to take the course.
However, in this course, everyone's voice will be heard and everyone's opinions will be accepted. Our respectful look at cultural and social issues broadens awareness. The anatomy and physiology lectures answer a lot of questions students have about their own bodies. Students learn about contraception, pregnancy and childbirth, sexually transmitted infections, myths and misconceptions, and, of course, the biopsychosocial development of children, adolescents, and adults.
All in all, we laugh, cringe, ponder, explore, discuss, and have a great time in class discovering why sexuality is so important to understand.
Our students become therapists, child advocates, teachers, human development and family specialists, spouses, parents, and citizens. They need in-depth information about human development and relationships, including sexuality, which enables them to do their jobs, recognize issues, make good-decisions, and protect themselves or others.
Human sexuality impacts all areas of our lives whether we recognize it or not. It is better to be armed with accurate information and awareness than to naively go through life discounting an obvious part of human experience.
