Generally for images on a web page, a text alternative is provided using the alt attribute. It is considered best practice to keep alt text brief and concise think no more than characters. But what about images that are complex? In Heading field, enter the heading of the page where the image will reside, and add "alternative text" at the end.
In Body field, enter the long description of the image see tips on creating long description. Under Menu settings , set the Parent item preferably, under the page where the image will reside. Uncheck Add menu link field.
Save and Publish. Copy the URL. On the page where the image will reside, insert the image and enter alternative text that describes the overall image. Add long description to the image. The objective of this technique is to provide information in a file designated by the longdesc attribute when a short text alternative does not adequately convey the function or information provided in the image. The longdesc attribute is a URI , the target of which contains a long description of the non-text content.
Authors can provide a description for an image by including text in a separate resource or within the text of the page containing the image. An advantage of using a separate resource for the description is that it is easily reusable for multiple instances of the same image, it does not add on-page visual clutter to the original document, and the description's end-point is apparent to the user.
They even use bullet points to make the text more scannable. But don't keep your descriptions short at the expense of clarity and consumer confidence.
So make sure you give an accurate impression of the final product, no matter how brief. Always include the information that is necessary to make the purchase without fear. Short, concise product descriptions look great, but some products take much more than a paragraph to describe.
Big ticket items that are not everyday purchases benefit from longer descriptions. Buyers are likely to compare similar products and learn as much as they can before pulling the trigger.
Complex tech products are also prime candidates for longer descriptions, often with well presented product specifications thrown in. Anything over words is pushing your luck.
