The offering had become stale after decades of sameness. Enter Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini: Ruffini bought the brand in and revived it , making the puffy down jacket a winter staple for urban cities and ski resorts alike. Does Moncler run small?

These jackets are pricey. Before you invest in one, you will want to know how does Moncler sizing run. The jackets are primarily manufactured in Romania, as well as Bulgaria, Moldova, Armenia, and Hungary. To ensure the health and safety of its employees at the production site in Romania, the brand performs on-site inspections, as well as free annual blood and eye tests.

Aside from the Gamme collection , which was discontinued, Moncler does not produce in Italy. In most cases, when you see this, right away you KNOW it's a fake! There are a few rare exceptions to this rule, one being on reversible jackets where the brand label is inside a pocket. It has also been sewn to the center on some Off White collab pieces.

Anytime you see a size tag containing a letter size as seen on the center and right labels above, that is immediate proof that it's a fake!

This guideline does not apply to other Moncler garments such as shirts, down cardigans, or other knit tops which DO use a letter size on the tag. There are a few rare exceptions to the rule about the size tag sewn to the brand label. You may see this on some jackets made in the early to mid 's, but in that case it is always sewn to the bottom left side of the label as seen here. In that case, the size tag IS sewn to the center of the label.

This is another rare exception. I believe these are from jackets produced around and they are certainly authentic. The brand label is just slightly different from the version. It's uncommon to find something like this but there are a few out there with the size tag in the center. Notice the one on the right does not use the number sizing? This is also something you don't normally see on any Moncler jacket.

It is from a rare style of lighter weight jacket. Special edition items such as this Junya Watanabe collaboration do not necessarily follow the standard Moncler guidelines when it comes to the tags and their locations. Location of tags: For all winter down jackets produced from forward , there is a distinct difference between men's and women's jackets when it comes to where Moncler sews the batch of tags.

Women's jackets will always have the tags sewn to the side seam along with a nylon pouch that the tags tuck into. Children's down jackets can also have this pouch. You might find the pouch on some men's down cardigans but never on the down jackets.

Men's down jackets again, since will have either 1 or 2 tags along the side seam. For there will be a certilogo tag and the large down certification tag.

From forward there will only be the down tag along the side seam. The rest of the tags are normally sewn inside an internal zipped pocket, most commonly found next to the main zipper.

This tag is always sewn up by the collar. There are 2 styles of this tag. Jackets from and earlier will have a wider tag with larger print and from forward it will be a much thinner tag with small print. Please note that Moncler jackets produced for the European market do not have such a tag.

A lot of older fakes have a tag that says the jacket was made in Italy or France. Although Moncler originated in France and then was bought out by a company out of Italy, production of their signature shiny nylon down jackets has not been done in those countries since the mid's, and even then, it was rare. There are some jacket models that are currently made in Italy but they are from different collections such as Gamme. Any Moncler jacket containing a tag like this is more than likely a fake:.

It is never a loose hanging tag like in the above photo. Moncler's signature down jackets are produced in European countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Armenia, Moldavia, Georgia country, not US state and some older models were made in Hungary. Some Moncler shirts and cardigans are produced in China, and I have seen a Grenoble jacket from that was produced in China, so it seems they are expanding their production.

The standard plastic toothed Lampo zippers found on most Moncler winter jackets will have this "ladder" pattern at the bottom of the zipper. Counterfeiters may or may not have duplicated this detail.

Notice how the "ladder" pattern is not there? They have also implemented workplace responsibility by rationalizing the number of printed documents in their efforts to reduce paper consumption. The down and other materials are also responsibly sourced and meet the required standards necessary, such as the DIST standard for down insulation.

All of these come at a financial price however, which must be accounted for in the retail prices of their finished products. We will cut to the chase here, Moncler does not design clothes for everyone.

Their luxury jackets are made for those that can afford to pay for a unique design of high quality. Their jackets are well-made in both design and comfort, and if you have the money and are keen on looking chic, a Moncler jacket is worth a shot.

Their jackets are undoubtedly very stylish, yes, even the puffy down jackets, and they are exceptional at providing insulation.

A good thing about their jackets is that they are made for functionality, therefore they can be used for different activities and not solely worn as a fashion piece. Moncler jackets are quite well-made and their down coats are a great choice for harsh winters as they come with both weather-protection and the amazing insulation provided by goose down.

The number of styles and designs is considerable and not limited to the standard looks we are used to seeing everywhere, even from other major brands of the same caliber. The answer to that question would be that it depends on what you are looking for. If you want functionality and style this might not be the brand to go for. In our opinion, there are several other brands out there with much more affordable jackets that are high-performance and fit perfectly. On the other hand, if it is cold where you live and you are in need of a very well-insulated jacket that is also shiny, stylish and lightweight, then a Moncler down jacket will do the job perfectly and it will also last quite a while.
